A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. -- Robert A. Heinlein
I am a self-professed polymath with a diverse set of interests. I hold a degree in Nursing (RN) and graduate degrees in Computer Science/Information Security (MS) and business (MBA). I leverage these spheres of knowledge in healthcare IT where I work at the forefront of the intersection of healthcare and technology. A patient behind every keyboard.
I also (occasionally) consult on matters related to cybersecurity and cybercrime (with additional training in criminal profiling and crime scene analysis).
An avid outdoorsman, climber, and adventurer, I am an also an RN/Wilderness First responder specializing in wilderness and austere medicine. I have academic interest in the medical and pharmaceutical science of the medieval era, with a focus on the the period of the Viking Age (about as austere as one can get!)
I also hold an undergraduate degree in relgious studies, a BA in philosophy (having also completed graduate-level work in philosophy), and a religious studies Ph.D. in Norse Mythology & Theology. I am very much a student of the pre-Christian religions of Germanic Europe, particularly that of the Norse and specializing in the Viking Age.
I enjoy travel and adventure with my family, working out, and the martial arts (Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, boxing, knife, stick, axe, and firearms as well as studies in and recreation of medieval Viking combatives). Aspiring warrior-skald, "The Southernmost Viking" and editor of The Whisky Blot literary journal, my fiction and poetry have been featured in a number of publications and I am currently studying and tinkering with the poetry of the Viking Age skalds as well as learning the American Futharch.
